Fifth Victory of the Season in Salom for Petra Vlhova

Petra Vlhová is almost unbeatable in slalom. She has won five out of six slalom races this season confirming, with another consistent performance, she is now number one in Slalom. Despite she was extremely critical of the piste conditions after the inspection and even described it as a "disaster", she was able to achieve the second-best time in the first run and master a bumpy and inconsistent course to set the best time in the second one.

Vlhova recorded her 17th slalom win today. She is now tied with Anja Pärson in sixth place on the women's list for most World Cup slalom victories. Today's win is her 25th victory and 52nd podium in the World Cup.

Vlhová won the last World Cup slalom event held in Kranjska Gora, on 16 February 2020. She became the first woman to win at two World Cup Slalom races in Kranjska Gora.

Since the start of 2020, Vlhová has won 12 of the 18 slalom events held in the women's World Cup. Mikaela Shiffrin (3), Katharina Liensberger (2) and Michelle Gisin (1) won the other six.

She is leading the Slalom standings after winning in Levi (2), Lienz, Zagreb, Kranjska Gora, and finished second behind Mikaela Shiffrin in the Killington slalom. Vlhova is 240 points ahead of Mikaela Shiffrin who failed to finish today after straddling a gate in the lower section of the course during the second run. The last time Shiffrin has failed (DNF) to finish a slalom race was four years ago in Lenzerheide in 2018.

The Slovak 2020-2021 World Cup Champion is now second in the overall standings, with 831 points, only 35 points behind the American.

Wendy Holdener finished in second position today in Kranjska Gora. It is her best result of the season. She has finished third in 2018 and second in 2020 in the slalom event in Kranjska Gora.

Holdener has 29 podium finishes in World Cup slalom events, but she is still waiting for the first victory after the 100th slalom race. This is currently the record for most World Cup podiums in a single discipline without winning. Only Frida Hansdotter (17) has finished second in a World Cup slalom event more often than Holdener. Holdener's 15 third places in this discipline are already most for a woman.

Anna Swenn-Larsson finished in third position returning to the World Cup slalom podium. The Swede finished in the top three of a World Cup slalom event on five occasions, the last time before today in Flachau on 14 January 2020.
