Second Super-G Victory for Vincent Kriechmayr

Today in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Vincent Kriechmayr won his second Super-G of the season 0.17 seconds ahead of teammate Matthias Mayer. It was Kriechmayr’s second victory of the season and his fourth total podium.

It is the first skier to win two successive Super-G World Cup races since Dominik Paris won in Kvitfjell and Soldeu in March 2019.

It's his 8th victory in the World Cup, 6th in the Super-G discipline.

"Bib number five is always good. I won in Kitzbühel too with bib number five (...) Today the slope was much better than I was thinking. It was not easy today... not so difficult but also not so easy, I had to make the turns really well. I was really proud of my skiing and my result as well", Kriechmayr said.

After today's victory, Vincent Kriechmayr extended his lead in the season’s Super-G standings to 101 points (341) with only two races remaining after Cortina. Matthias Mayer is now second with 240 points.

Matthias Mayer shows again he is one of the most consistent racers on the World Cup this season. Mayer finished on the podium in the last 6 WC races.

Third place went to Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt, who finished 0.49 seconds off the winning time.
